The short version: Splittly does not collect, store, or sell your personal data. Everything you enter — names, amounts, contact details — stays in your browser and is never sent to our servers. We use third-party services (Google AdSense, exchange rate APIs) that may collect limited anonymous data as described below.
Splittly ("we", "our", "us") is a free bill-splitting tool available at splittly.co. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how the site works.
Splittly itself collects no personal data. All information you enter into the tool — names, expense amounts, WhatsApp numbers, email addresses — is processed entirely within your browser (client-side). It is never transmitted to or stored on our servers.
When you close or refresh the browser tab, all data is cleared. Nothing is saved unless you explicitly create a Splittly account (a feature available to registered users).
We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
Google AdSense
We display advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to serve ads based on your browsing behaviour. You can opt out of personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com. Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.
Exchange Rate API (open.er-api.com)
We fetch live currency exchange rates from a third-party API. This request includes your IP address as part of standard HTTP communication. No personal data beyond your IP is shared, and no data is stored by us. Their privacy policy is available at exchangerate-api.com/privacy.
IP Geolocation (ipapi.co)
We use ipapi.co to detect your approximate country in order to pre-select a relevant base currency. This uses your IP address and is a one-time request on page load. No data is stored by us. Their privacy policy is available at ipapi.co/privacy.
Google Fonts
We load fonts from Google Fonts, which may log your IP address as part of the font request. See Google's Fonts FAQ for details.
Splittly does not set its own cookies. Google AdSense may set cookies on your device for advertising purposes. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings or via the Google opt-out link above.
Splittly contains affiliate links to third-party services such as Wise. If you click an affiliate link and make a purchase or sign up, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate links do not affect our editorial choices.

This data is stored securely using Google Firebase and is used solely to provide the save/load project functionality. We do not sell, share, or use this data for advertising purposes.
Splittly is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update. Continued use of Splittly after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
